‘JON KNIGHT & SOULSTACK’ RELEASES NEW ‘OLD SCHOOL’ RECORDING
Records ‘Live to Tape’ for Self-Titled, Third Studio Release

Toronto, ON: Award winning, roots music innovators, ‘Jon Knight & Soulstack’ are set to release their third studio recording on Thursday, June 18th at the Orbit Room, Toronto. (580 A College St., 8 pm), and on Saturday, June 20th at the Rainbow Bistro, Ottawa (76 Murray Street, 10 pm).

Produced by frontman, Jon Knight, self-titled release, ‘Soulstack’ (2015) was recorded ‘LIVE Off the Floor’ onto a vintage 2” analogue tape machine at Canterbury Music Company (Toronto).

Six men in a room recording direct to tape – Now this is Old School!

When Soulstack went into the studio to record their third album, singer/producer Jon Knight asked Grammy nominated engineer Jeremy Darby “What can we do to give this the sonic vibe of the old records we love?” Jeremy simply pointed to the 35-year-old Studer 2″ analog tape machine. “We imposed limitations on ourselves that would have been hard to work with for many musicians in today’s digital environment, but we had to have that old school sound!” recalls Jon.

There is nothing ‘old’ about these ten new songs, however, as this release follows the band’s other innovative and critically acclaimed releases; ‘Five Finger Discount’ (2013), and ‘Big Red’ (2012), and is just one of two projects the prolific band will release this year; A ‘Live Acoustic’ DVD/Bluray will also be released later this summer.Download a full promo-only copy of the album at promo.soulstack.com

We’re pleased to present a new video from our upcoming album! This track is called “Lot of Good Men” and was recorded live in the studio to Analog tape at Canterbury Music Company in Toronto.

We’re excited to announce that we will be presenting a unique show – “SOULSTACK – LIVE & ACOUSTIC” at The Jazz Room in Waterloo with assistance from The Waterloo Arts Fund, The Grand River Blues Society and The Guitar Corner.

We have performed a similar show only once before, and we think you will enjoy it! Everyone will be playing acoustically, including drummer Tom Bona who has some interesting percussion surprises in store! We will be performing music from our first two albums as well as our most recent records, but as you’ve never heard them before.

Hi Everyone, we’re pleased to announce we have wrapped production of our forthcoming third album and are in the process of mixing and analog sweetening (a little dash of this and that).

We cut the record at Canterbury Music Company in Toronto, but this time opted for a more stripped-down production, recording through a vintage early-seventies Neve Console directly onto 2″ Tape. As usual we recorded a bunch of guys in a room for an authentic no-BS feel, this time with our friend Matt Weidinger joining us on keys with Mark.
